The Queen of Soul – Aretha Franklin

Honorary titles such as Duke, Count and Prince signify the musical impact some entertainers have on the American psyche. Aretha Franklin was musical royalty, spanning the genres of Gospel, R &B, Pop, Jazz and even classical music. Her recent passing only reinforces her legacy with tributes from around the world. We often remember her for pop hits like “Like a Natural Woman”, “RESPECT”, and “Think”, but there was much more to her unique style. She was a winner of 15 Grammy’s, Kennedy Center Honors, and Lifetime Achievement Award. What made her unique in American music and its cultural history?
