Wellness Tip

Falls happen, but they are not a normal part of aging.  According to the CDC, falls are the leading cause of injury and death in older Americans. So, getting at the cause of frequent falls is the first step to diagnosing and developing a treatment plan to help reduce your risk.  That means talking with your primary care physician, relaying when the falls are happening, is it environmental, or medical, i.e. side effect of medication, infection, neurological issues.  A physical therapist can help identify environmental obstacles in your daily life.  So, talk to a health care professional, don’t ignore the signs and accept falls as “just getting older.”
