Employee Spotlight: Lilly Ramos, R.N.
Lilly Ramos, R.N., has been a nurse for twenty plus years and of you were to ask her, she will tell you it makes her sad to think that one day she will have to leave because of her age. Not so fast Lilly! A dedicated Blue Skies of Texas employee, Lilly has been a valued team member for more than 20 years and there is nothing about Lilly that says she is anywhere near retirement.
Lilly became a nurse because of her sister, her role model. Lilly’s sister is a LVN and she told Lilly she had to become the R.N. of the family. Always one to do as her sister told her, Lilly did just that. First a C N A, then a LVN, Lilly went back to school once more and earner her Registered Nursing license. Prior to working at Blue Skies of Texas, Lilly was a nurse for Metropolitan Hospital and worked in home health for time.
Lilly enjoys caring for others, especially seniors and knowing everyday she can go home and know she gave 100%. It shows. Lilly is praised by those she cares for, the families, her co-workers and supervisors. Lilly is a nurse everyone can count on for delivering safe and compassionate care. She is a valued team member and is always quick to work extra hours when ever she is needed. A role model for new nurses and respected by peers and subordinates.
Lilly’s life isn’t all about work though, she is most proud of her family which includes two great-grandbabies. Lilly tells us being a great grandmother is like a second chance at being a mother and still working full-time. When she is not caring for her patients or her great grandchildren, Lilly enjoys documentaries and country music.
A piece of advice Lilly gives new nurses, “when you stop caring, it’s time to hang up the stethoscope”. Its evident Lilly is far from hanging up her stethoscope and Blue Skies is better for it.
