We moved here to find the best of both worlds! Not only did we want to make new friends, but since we were San Antonio residents already, we’ve also been able to maintain relationships with local friends, neighbors, and volunteer responsibilities. Moving here while still able to live independently, we have taken the hard task of providing future care decisions as we age, off our children’s plate. The continuity of care ensures we will always be cared for at a place where we have made new friends. After much research, many visits, and some soul searching, we walked into a floor plan that was perfect for our needs. Our first reaction was that this looked like home.
I have over forty years of sailing experience during which I sailed many different types of sailboats. Then in 2002, my girlfriend and I saw a 45-foot sailboat she remarked that even as big/tall as I was, I COULD cruise/live-a-board that boat pretty easily. I bought it, moved into it in August 2003 and lived/sailed in it happily for 17 years. However, as I aged and at the urging of my family, I chose to move to a senior living community. When I first got to Blue Skies, I asked them to show me the SMALLEST one-bedroom apartment they had. When I first saw it (530 sq. ft), I was impressed at how much larger it was than my sailboat! I moved in March 31, 2020. Richard S. As a brand new resident who resided at both campuses initially until finally moving into Blue Skies East, I can honestly say that literally EVERYONE (admin, staff, residents) bent over backwards to do everything in their power to insure my smooth transition. I STRONGLY urge ANYONE even considering retiring ANYWHERE else to STOP that process and, as fast as you can run, don't walk to the Blue Skies campus of your choice. You WON'T regret it.
This is the place everyone wants. A place of warmth, love and safety. This is Home!
What a wonderful place to be! Our friendly, kind and giving residents are really just like our extended family. Have loved being part of this amazing “family” or as some still say “the village” for the past 8 years. I see the support of friendship the residents not only give to each other but to us staff members as well; it truly warms my heart.
After 15 years of planning my retirement to "Air Force Village", I moved into my wonderful cottage 7 months ago, (coincidentally) just as Covid-19 was moving into our country and changing our lives. I could not have felt any safer than I have here the past 7 months! Services and staff members exceeded all my expectations. They adapted to new challenges and new rules with professionalism and courtesy that are unsurpassed in my experience! They kept us closely apprised at every turn about conditions here and in the surrounding community. Further, they welcomed suggestions from us. No doubt about it - I consider myself HOME.
I love living at Blue Skies for many reasons but it’s the people (both residents and staff) that make me the happiest. We’ve become like family.
I find Blue Skies East to be a very friendly community and with an apparent concentration on bringing in younger residents that has made this a continually active community. I bit the bullet three years ago and downsized from my 3800 sq. ft home to my 870 sq. ft Blue Skies apartment when I realized I lived my whole life virtually in the Master Suite. Now I can’t tell the difference except I don’t have to tend the property and have more friends and time for golf.
We found our "Forever Home" at Blue Skies of Texas East! It is the best and friendliest senior living value that we visited.
Living at Blue Skies of Texas West for seven years has been a great experience. The administration, the staff, and the residents create a dynamic atmosphere that would be hard to beat. I call it "my little place just this side of Heaven"!
To our beloved staff, Maybe some heroes have lived at Blue Skies but now heroes WORK at Blue Skies. Each one of you has truly earned that title. We will survive because of YOU! Thank you.
Have lived at Blue Skies for 4 years. The entire staff continues to amaze us with their extraordinary care, love, and support. They do this not only during 'ordinary' times but in this challenging time as well. God bless you all!
We wouldn't live anyplace else; not in good times, bad times, scary times... any time. It's the staff - remarkable, amazing people.
