Accreditations & Awards
CARF Accreditation
In 1987, Blue Skies of Texas earned joint national distinction as we became the first military-related retirement community to be accredited by Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC). CCAC eventually became known as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, or CARF. Accreditation through CARF demonstrates that both of our campuses meet and maintain the highest standards of quality and service across the continuum of care. Our campuses are currently re-accredited through 2023.
Only 17% of communities across the United States have earned this recognition, and Blue Skies East & West are the only CARF accredited Life Plan Communities in Texas!
Joint Commission Accreditation for BST Home Health & Hospice
The Joint Commission (TJC) is a globally recognized leader in health care accreditation who has over 65 years of experience and functions as a worldwide symbol of quality improvement. Receiving TJC accreditation means that Blue Skies of Texas meets the highest national standards for safety and quality of care and is committed to continually improving patient care. BST Home Health and Hospice has remained accredited through TJC since 2014.
Caring Star Community
“Caring Star”, the recognition awarded by Caring.com, demonstrates how well consumers rate our quality of care in assisted living and Alzheimer’s care. Only the top 3% of the 31,000 senior communities nationwide have been recognized with this distinction.
Memory Care
Memorycare.com recently named Blue Skies of Texas as one of the best memory care facilities in San Antonio, specifically praising the wellness programs and staff expertise.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have consistently rated our Skilled Nursing Facilities at the highest level of quality.
GuideStar Gold Seal of Transparency
Blue Skies of Texas has continually been earned the GuideStar Gold Seal of Transparency, demonstrating our commitment to transparency through all facets of our not-for-profit organization, financially and otherwise.
It’s kind of crazy, but you always hear retired people say
they’re busier in retirement than when they were working,
and it really turned out to be true!
We moved here to find the best of both worlds! Moving here while
still able to live independently, we have taken the hard task of
providing future care decisions as we age, off our children’s plate.
Our first reaction was that this looked like home.
